The Battle of the Words Is On!
So yesterday was the kickoff for Camp NaNoWriMo. In other words, it was the first day to start writing, putting words to paper on my way to this amazing goal of 50,000 words in 30 days. All day I waffled. Did just about anything except write, fun things like scooping out the litter box and cleaning the garden shed. But eventually I plunked myself down in front of my laptop. In order to reach 50K, my daily output must reach at least 1667. If I miss a day, then the next day's total has to be at least 3334. And so on.
I actually like that kind of pressure. In fact, sometimes it seems that an impossible ultimatum is the only way to motivate me. And so I sat down and I wrote--1667 words. It never ceases to amaze me when the words come, like they've been inside me all along just waiting for the chance to get out. Even though the first thousand words were all about how I didn't think I would be able to write anything, there they were. So I'm going to do the same thing again today. And tomorrow, and tomorrow...
